About the project
The project "Research on mergers and acquisitions in the Republic of Croatia after Eurozone accession: quantitative and qualitative aspects" focuses on a comprehensive analysis of the transformation of the market for corporate control following Croatia's accession to the Eurozone. Rather than merely observing isolated trends, the research team, led by Professor Davor Filipović, PhD, analyzes shifts in the intensity, value, and structure of transactions, with a particular emphasis on the distinction between cross-border and domestic integration processes. The research correlates the new monetary and institutional environment with corporate strategic responses, employing a methodological pluralism that combines quantitative analysis of transactional characteristics with in-depth case studies of selected transactions. A specific scientific contribution is the exploration of the behavioral aspects of managerial decision-making and the role of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) factors as key determinants of the reputational and strategic motives of actors in merger and acquisition processes. Over the four-year funding period under the NextGenerationEU program, the project will produce a scientific book and establish the first publicly available digital database of corporate transactions in the Republic of Croatia, thereby ensuring a permanent research infrastructure for the academic and professional communities. This approach enables a deeper understanding of the microeconomic implications of macroeconomic integration, thereby strengthening the Faculty's scientific and teaching capacities in investment banking, strategic management, and international economics.
